1. Receive notification of an IT asset lifecycle event
2. Capture hardware specifications, software licenses, and purchase details
3. Record asset assignment, physical location, and deployment status
4. Link the asset record to applicable warranties and service level agreements
5. Update the configuration management database or asset registry
6. Reconcile database records against network discovery scans and physical audits

Outcome: The central IT asset repository accurately reflects the current hardware, software, licensing, and deployment status of the resource.
